MORE CONCERT DETAILS

The concert is about "Raising Consciousness on the Planet through Sound and Music." and is open to the public. It is being held at the Cathedral Hill Hotel Grand Ballroom which has a capacity of 1100. The event involves a number of groups that have a common intention to help raise the consciousness on the planet. All of the musicians are serious professionals. We have 4 producers working on the project:

1) Maestro Curtis - Maestro has played with Peabo Bryson, The Ojay's, George Benson, Phyllis Hyman and Lenny Williams and The Count Basie Orchestra. He continues to produce with Maurice White of Earth, Wind and Fire and recently was the keyboard player on a project for George Benson. Maestro teaches music theory in the Recording Program and Sound Healing programs at Globe Institute.

2) David Gibson - Worked with James Brown and many of the Doobie Brothers. Wrote the #1 selling book in the field of audio called, "The Art of Mixing," and co-authored, "The Art of Producing," with Maestro, which is the only book on the market that explains a process for producing a song or musical project. Maestro and David have developed a wide range of PsychoAcoustic music production techniques based on how sound and music affect a person physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. They have studied the full range of techniques that researchers, therapists and doctors have come up with (and are currently working on). Some of these techniques are subtle and affect our energy fields often without us even know it; some are very powerful and obvious to a listener. We will be incorporating many of these techniques into this production to create an experience for the audience that has the potential to be quite transformative.

3) AO - Ricky Gannaway and Jay Oliver. They are the composers, producers and primary performers on all AO music projects. Their international reputation in the music industry is vast, spanning a list of writing and production credits that include Sheryl Crow, The Eagles, Celine Dion, Jimmy Buffett, Bonnie Raitt, Wynona Judd, Glenn Fry, Joe Walsh, Chick Corea and Dave Weckl (the highest-ranking international contemporary drummer year after year). Checkout www.aomusic.com

4) Jonathan Goldman - musician, producer, writer, and teacher. He is an authority on sound healing and a pioneer in the field of harmonics. Jonathan is the author of 5 books and 23 CDs, many of these are award winning and one has been nominated for a Grammy. He has studied with masters of sound from both the scientific and spiritual traditions, including the Dalai Lama's Chanting Gyuto and Gyume Monks.  Checkout www.HealingSounds.com

5) Rik Henderson is Chief Creative Officer and Co-Program Designer of 3dMaxMedia’s (www.3dMaxMedia.com) Zuma Pro v4.0 - the world’s Fastest, Highest Quality, Live 3d Interactive Visual Performance and Authoring Software System.  He is also a 3d Visual Performance Artist with a passionate focus on the unification of 3d Sacred Geometry, metaphysics, Light, Sound, Healing, Chanting, Mandelas and Spiritual Ascension. Specifically, he is a specialist in utilizing real-time interactive 3d Holographic, Auto-Stereographic and Live Performance software technologies for designing Spiritually Transformative Experiences and Workshops with the intension of manifesting Spirit into the “Appearance” of Physical Reality. He has performed with the rock band YES, Jonathan Quintin, Constance Demby and designed Sacred 3d Interactive Artwork for Michael Mason’s “Infinite Heart” Workshop.

The concert will be a benefit for our Non-profit Sound Healing Research Foundation at the College. Besides doing research to prove the efficacy of Sound Healing techniques for medical purposes, we are also establishing a school for Children with learning disabilities. The Institute will use sound and music as tools to help both children with learning disabilities and those who simply want to make the learning process easier.

The main techniques include: Music Theory education, therapy programs based on the teachings of Alfred Tomatis, research in the use of specific frequencies, binaural beats (to entrain brainwaves), and music to facilitate the learning process. Our Institute has already been doing a good amount of research in this area.

Bringing Sound Healing in the Mainstream
Besides the key goal of raising consciousness on the planet, we are also looking to bring an awareness of Sound Healing into the mainstream society. Our intention is way beyond than self serving -- Most people have no idea of how powerful sound really is for therapy (helping with learning disabilities), medical conditions (even destroying cancer cells), and consciousness raising (entraining brainwaves into specific meditative states). There are many very powerful techniques that have been discovered by researchers in this field that have the potential to completely change the entire medical industry and the quality of health that individuals enjoy. But, until the public becomes aware of it, it is very difficult to get such powerful and non-invasive treatments into medical facilities (much less homes). So this is our secondary goal - To bring the awareness of Sound Healing into the mainstream.

1. Stephen Kent: Didgeridoo
Widely regarded as one of the finest and most innovative non-aboriginal didjeridu players on the planet, Stephen has performed all over the world, most recently at the Winter Olympics in Torino. He’s collaborated with many world-renowned musicians, including Airto Moreira, Zakir Hussain, Glen Velez and Habib Koite, and recently played for his holiness the Dalai Lama in front of 7,500 people at Stanford University.

His recording career spans over two decades, starting with the post -punk London based outfit Furious Pig in the late seventies, the groundbreaking Lights in a Fat City in the mid eighties, the innovative Trance Mission in the nineties and now as a solo artist, adding his energy and collaborative talents to performances with artists as wide-ranging as

Tuvan throat-singing sensations Chirgilchin, Japanese Taiko master Leonard Eto (Kodo), Afro-Cuban pianist Omar Sosa and the Peruvian shamanic sound healer Tito la Rosa.

While he is best known for his prowess on the didjeridu, Stephen is a multi-instrumentalist - a classically trained brass player, an accomplished percussionist and a unique guitar stylist. http://www.stephenkent.net/press/StephenKent_onesheet.pdf

2. Mamadou Sidibe: Kameln’goni
Master kameln'goni player, Mamadou Sidibe is from the Wassoulou Region of Mali, West Africa. Twenty-five years ago Mamadou played a groundbreaking role in transforming the music of this region from it's origins in hunters' sacred melodies--played on six string doson'goni (hunter's harps)-- to a music of love, politics and daily life. Mamadou was one of the first to expand the instrument's range with two extra strings, creating the popular kameln'goni. http://www.musicmali.com/

3. Lisa Rafel: Chantress/vocalist
Lisa Rafel is a singer/songwriter specializing in a unique, harmonic style of singing that weaves overtones through the melodies of sacred prayers so fluidly that it could be angels ringing little bells and not a human sound. Inspired from the roots of chant and prayer, Lisa integrates the healing elements of sacred sounds, seed syllable mantras, and ancient and indigenous intonations with modern melodic forms. Her chants and musical interpretations leave one with a deep and abiding experience of peace.

Lisa has performed for audiences in festivals, conferences, and healing gatherings from the World Festival of Sacred Music in LA to the Big Green Gathering in UK. She is most grateful for the privilege of singing for others in Chartres Cathedral in France; the Sakya Monastery in Tibet; and in the Great Pyramid in Egypt.

Lisa is also a world-renowned teacher in sound healing, personal development, voice and ceremony. She recently presented at the International Shamanic Conference in Ulaan Bataar, Mongolia. Lisa teaches in the Netherlands, in Florida and in California at the PsychoAcoustic and Sound Healing Institute, the California Institute of Integral Studies, San Francisco State University, and privately in Oakland.
