Bringing Sound into the Medical Field
It is time to bring the ancient and current power of sound into the mainstream. Just about everybody in the field of PsychoAcoustics and Sound Healing has had a glimpse of how powerful sound really is. Sound is finally reaching the threshold of mainstream acceptance due to the successful clinical applications and research of many sonic pioneers. As teachers, healers, and scientists we are all aware that the medical establishment, in it’s current form, can not provide a comprehensive solution to the world’s struggling healthcare needs. We believe that innovations in alternative medicine, particularly in the field of psychoacoustics, can help bridge the gap between ancient wisdom and modern technology to create practical and sustainable solutions that provide highly effective treatment at a fraction of the cost. With a little effort, these solutions can be integrated into mainstream awareness, and eventually create comprehensive lifestyle solutions that will raise the consciousness of our entire planet. In this one-day workshop practitioners will learn how to integrate the therapeutic use of tuning forks in place of or in conjunction with acupuncture needles, acupressure, chiropractic, physical therapy or various massage techniques. Through lecture, slide presentation, clinical theater, and clinical practice, you will learn about the three realms: heaven, earth, and humanity. You will experience the energetics of transformation through the application of high, middle, and low, planetary tuning forks, tuned to the frequencies of the earth, moon, sun, and planets directly to acupuncture points, chakras, and points of pain. This course will explore the use of point poetics, archetypes, correspondences, and sympathies in healing and provide fresh new insights into the use of the Eight Extraordinary Vessels, Source Points, and other transformational energetic gateways.

At its core, the Acutonics System of Harmonic and Planetary medicine recognizes the profound universal connections between the natural world, body, mind, and spirit, and the role that each one of us plays in the journey toward wholeness — attunement or at-one-ment with all things. In this one-day training, we will explore the fascinating world of Sound Healing as a way to enter into the rich territory of our inner worlds—the realm of living myth, dreams and potential creativity. 

Sound, in some form or other, has been used for millennia as a means to alter awareness and to make deep contact with other worlds (worlds of perception that open before us during altered brain activity). The methods of using sound to alter awareness vary from culture to culture, but certain commonalities are shared. Among these are the psychoacoustic affects of sound on brain activity.

One form of inner exploration that uses sound as an integral element to alter perception is the shamanic journey. 

From a shamanic perspective, the Journey is a movement of attention from the outer world to the inner, and then “down” into the Underworld of primal forces. In classic shamanic journeys there is then a movement “up” into the Celestial World of spiritual experience, returning back to the world of illusion (or the outer world of attention). The purpose of the Journey from a shamanic standpoint is to collect spiritual power, which can then be used in the world of everyday life or the spiritual worlds, as needed.

From a Transpersonal Psychological perspective the Journey is a movement from the Conscious Mind into the Unconscious and Superconscious Minds. Unlike the shamanic perspective, which views the other worlds of attention as real, Transpersonal Psychology views them as symbolic expressions of the psyche. The purpose of the Journey from this perspective is to gain psychological power by bringing into conscious awareness that which has been hidden.

Finally, from the perspective of neuropsychology and psychoacoustics, the shamanic journey involves the use of sound to alter brain activity, characterized by strong increases in theta waves, which are associated with dreams, visions and inner directed attention. These types of experiences also show an increase in non-dominant brain activity (the right hemisphere for most people). Thus, the Journey can also be viewed as a complex experience arising from distinct changes in brain state.

 In this workshop, Tom will discuss all three perspectives (Shamanic, Transpersonal and Neurophysiology). He will also address how to best utilize altered states of consciousness (like the Journey) as a source of personal healing and insight. He will explore the connection between psychoacoustics (the use of sound to alter perception) and the neurophysiology of altered states. A fascinating part of this exploration is the relationship between sound, internal imagery, emotion and psycho-spiritual experiences. Far from being a dry intellectual presentation, this will be a highly experiential and transformative workshop. Tom is well known for making complex scientific concepts easy to understand and highly entertaining. As part of the experience, Tom will guide participants into a discovery of how vocalization can be used to bridge the worlds of spirit and matter (the shamanic view) or bridge the Conscious, Unconscious and Superconscious (the psychological view). 

Finally, Tom will facilitate the work through the use of natural acoustic instruments and his nearly four-octave range voice.

Participants will leave the workshop with an understanding of how sound can be used to alter awareness, and how their own voices can be utilized to integrate psycho-spiritual energies. The Journey offers an extraordinary opportunity to explore one’s inner life, and to increase one’s psychological and spiritual insight.

The interconnectedness of the structure of sound, light, color, chemistry, quantum physics, sacred geometry, consciousness and spirit. The infinite possibilities for the use of sound to transform matter and consciousness. The structure of the Unity Field that connects us all.

6:30 - 9:30 PM - Jan Cercone
We will discuss how to use the voice as an intentional healing form and how to therapeutically focus the voice for chakra balancing, emotional clearing, and relaxation using gongs, drums, shruti box and chimes. Exercises utilizing multiple modalities will engage our self expression and break through perceived limitations and inhibitions. We will learn to access the sublimated pure tone through the vocal exercises developed with Rudolf Steiner (“Uncovering the Voice method”). Sessions will include improvisation and a creative experiential format that allows for discovery and joy in the singing process. Our goal is to access the "healing moment" through our vocalizations.

Friday May 18th

Experiential Foundations for Sound Healing

You will learn a technique for using your voice for healing yourself and others.

We base the sound healing work on two assumptions:
a) To be centered, sensitive and responsive, we must be familiar with different feeling states, and learn how sound, energy and intention can surrender into a self-aware state.
b) To become conscious with sound, we must develop physical/sensory recognition of subtle changes and acquire a relationship with the inner landscape through Spiritual attunement.

• Different levels of receiving and centering
• Listening to and making harmonics.
• Listening with silence.
• Explore kinetic awareness and learn to differentiate levels of magnetic pull.

Friday Night - Healing the Planet with Sound, Music, and Sacred Geometry in 3D (everyone will get 3D glasses). Produced by David Gibson, AO, Jonathan Goldman, and Globe Institute. Now confirmed is Mickey Hart, Stanley Jordan, AO, and Jonathan Goldman. We will have a 40 piece children's choir, a 15 piece vocal group, a 3 piece violin section, Japanese Taiko Drummers, The Grand Mother Drum (wth 200 crystals inside) and a house band composed of major musicians.

In alignment with the theme of the Conference, our intention is to bring in as many major musicians as possible to help bring awareness of the field of Sound Healing into the mainstream. Whoever we end up with it is sure to be an amazing event as we project animated Sacred Geometry images over the audience in 3D with 3D glasses (Rik Henderson). We have been working closely with our production team (including Jonathan Goldman) to create a structure for the show that will not only raise the consciousness of the group, but will connect us all to one another, and to spirit.

Saturday Night - Sacred Healing Concert
More An amazing all-star line up of musicians will be featured in the Sacred Healing Concert, a main highlight of the World Sound Healing Conference, being held at the Cathedral Hill Hotel in San Francisco in May. The Healing Concert will combine lead musicians from several of the Bay Area’s most exciting band,including Sound Tribe Sector Nine, Hamsa Lila, Stellamara, West African Highlife Band, Lulacruza, and King Sunny Ade. The concert will take the audience on a journey of the soul, creating a wave of musical energy that will span several continents, musical styles and traditions, and will feature solos by various performers throughout the two-hour show.

The Sunday night concert is included with the admission to the conference and is being Produced by Globe Institute and Lisa Rafel. Lisa has produced several exceptional Solstice Harmonizing concerts that have featured some of talented musicians in the Bay Area.

Monday Night - Free Tibetan Bowls concert with Karma Moffett, Alex Theory & Randy Masters
The final Monday night concert at the hotel is about bringing the group together. Often times, the last day of the conference is very special because when people share sound, they become connected. The last night is not just a concert, it is an immersive experience in sound and voice. The evening begins with Alex Theory & Randy Masters creating sonic tapestries with a variety of instruments, gongs, tuning forks, and voice. Afterwards, Karma Moffett will take the journey into the atmosphere (and back again!) by playing his huge array of Tibetan Bowls, shells, and long horns. This evening will be a sweet and highly charged celebration to end the event.

Lynn is a light projection artist. My “light art” is created utilizing analogue light projectors, digital video projectors, and other light emitting devices and fixtures. Lynn has been working in her experimental light studio for 14 years developing light projected environments utilizing transparent veils, dimension, reflective surfaces, movement and sound. This experiential light work has been presented at the Museum of Modern Art in San Francisco (SFMOMA) for Yoko Ono’s “Yes” Exhibition opening gala, collaborations with electronic music artist Steve Roach, German world fusion music group Arbre Noir at Freiburg Planetarium, Germany, a major installation work entitled “Space Between” at SomArts Gallery in San Francisco and a seven story high installation of draped transparent veils and sari’s 40 to 50 feet long at the Hyatt Embarcadero lobby in San Francisco for Color Marketing Group.

Free Root Frequency Analysis
Upon entrance to the conference, all attendees will have their voice analyzed. Throughout the conference we will do exercises that involve your personal frequency and explore how it resonates in relation to others.
