Sound Therapy and Healing Overview (SH Overview)

This Course covers the full perspective of everything going on of the field of Sound Healing and Sound Therapy. It gives you a good overview of the basic structure of sound and how it can be used for meditation, relaxation, learning, productivity, healing and raising consciousness. We also look at the history and ethics of music and sound healing.

We begin with the basic concepts of Sound Healing including the Law of Resonance,  Entrainment, the Harmonic Structure of Sound, the effect of different Volumes on people, and the powerful effects of Phase Cancellation on us physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Erik Larson explains Cymatics, the visual patterns that sound creates in matter, including water in our bodies. 

We also discuss how Voice Analysis systems work and we perform Voice Analyses on each of the students. 

We look at the importance of tuning systems based on nature.  And, we go through all of the archetypal healing frequencies that have been used since the beginning of time -- from 1 – 400,000 Hertz. 

We discuss binaural beats and how they entrain the brain into different brainwave states (gamma, alpha, theta, delta and subdelta), and synchronize the left and right brain.

We then look at and practice all of the techniques for releasing stuck emotions with sound.  These techniques are extremely important, because many say that 50% of disease results from stuck emotions.

We discuss how nature sounds heal and we listen to the secret world that you find when you slow them down electronically.  Nature is the most amazing sound healer of all.

BioPhysical Model of Mind, Body and Spirit

The human body is a remarkable symphony of matter, energy, information and consciousness. While modern medicine and biology have focused almost exclusively on the dense, material aspects of the body (bones, muscles, organs, nerves, etc.), ancient traditions have always understood that all the aspects of our existence are inseparable.

As our culture moves slowly toward a “new” paradigm of mind-body holism, for thousands of years these traditions have taught that there is no connection between mind and body because there is fundamentally no separation between them – therefore, no connection is needed.

Body and Soul will explore many conventional notions of the body – including important concepts from standard anatomy and physiology – but from the unique perspective of how the body is organized as a physical expression of consciousness. In addition to lecture and discussion, we will use guided meditation, movement, touch and sound to directly experience the essential unity of life and the factors that influence it.

This class covers the fundamentals of music theory with an emphasis on how each aspect affects human beings on all levels. The course uses creative techniques to help students acquire a deeper understanding of the nuances of intervals and musical composition. The course uses the harmonic structure as the basis for the exploration of the underlying meaning of musical intervals.

With a basic grounding in the terminology and mechanics of music we will explore how to apply emerging knowledge and ideas in Psychoacoustics to actual pieces of music and live healing sessions.

Toning, Chanting and Mantra

When used with intention, our own voice can be a miraculous healing tool. It is a primordial pathway into our body and soul. In this workshop we will explore how sound vibrates our inner body. The Healing Voice

Sacred Voice

The voice is the ultimate healer, self contained within our sacred body. We will explore what we can "hear" when we truly listen… and then re-sound with it.
We will discuss how to use the voice as an intentional healing form and how to therapeutically focus the voice for chakra balancing, emotional clearing, and relaxation using gongs, drums, shruti box and chimes. Exercises utilizing multiple modalities will engage our self expression and break through perceived limitations and inhibitions. We will learn to access the sublimated pure tone through the vocal exercises developed with Rudolf Steiner (“Uncovering the Voice method”). Sessions will include improvisation and a creative experiential format that allows for discovery and joy in the singing process. Our goal is to access the "healing moment" through our vocalizations.

Sacred Geometry - The Harmonics of Space

The intention of this course is to bring awareness of the proportions of spaces and natural forms to those studying the harmonics of sound, so you can see the harmonics you hear, and to explore how the knowledge of the symbolic meaning of geometrical shapes can support the art of healing with sound.

Goals:

• To familiarize those who are studying the harmonics of sound with the parallel subject of the harmonic ratios found in two- and three-dimensional space, via the ancient discipline of symbolic geometry.

Advanced Sound Therapy and Healing
This Course covers the full perspective of everything going on of the field of Sound Healing and Sound Therapy. It gives you a good overview of the basic structure of sound and how it can be used for meditation, relaxation, learning, productivity, healing and raising consciousness. We also look at the history and ethics of music and sound healing.


1. Auras, Chakras and Endocrine Glands - We go into more detail on the Subtle Bodies surrounding the body. We explain the different systems for mapping the auras. We explore the function physically and esoterically of each of the endocrine glands. We look at how the chakras interact with endocrine glands, and how they both interact with each of the subtle bodies. We explore the frequencies of each endocrine gland and subtle body.

2&3. Advanced Music Listening – What’s going on in the music we listen to. Using the handout that explains all the dynamics that can be created in music we will critique a wide range of healing music in order to understand how it is affecting us. Students will also bring in examples to assess.

4. Intention - We will go deeper into the use of intention coupled with Sound. We will do exercises to practice holding our intention with 100% clarity of focus.

5. Holding Frequency No Matter What - One of the most important skills as a healer and in life is to be able to hold your center in times of chaos. We will do a multitude of powerful exercises to help learn this important technique.

6&7. Releasing Stuck Emotions – We will use a variety of sound techniques to help bring up and release deep emotional patterns. This is serious work that is extremely important for creating and even clearer channel for love, joy and spirit to come through in your life and work.

8. New Sound and Energy Technologies - We will explore some of the new systems including Nutri-Energetics, the QXCI, Zyto (Voice Mapping), and Asyra.

9. Other Voice Analysis Systems - We will have presentations and demonstrations of some of the other Voice Analysis Systems besides the VoiceBio.

Sound and Transitions
This course explores the use of sound to aid in a wide range of transitions - birth, life transitions, and leaving the body. We will discuss various processes for working with clients. We will also explore various concepts for framing transitions and how sound and music can be used.

Sound and Nature

This is a class that will take you from the most microscopic elements of sound creating form, to the magical grandeur of earth and the galaxies themselves. In between, we will explore the communication and musical creations of elephants, whales, dolphins and plants; some of which are quite miraculous in their advanced communication systems and song styles - as well as experience the impact of sound on water. We will also take a brief look at the harmonics of sound on Raven, the software analysis program from Cornell University and travel back into our own pasts to see where we came from and how sound has the capacity to enable time travel!

Clinical Psychology Ethics

In this course students will learn how to work with clients in an ethical manner. The Ethical foundations of running a clinical practice are discussed in detail. Students will also learn how to manage difficulties that may come up in a sound healing session.

Basic Computers (General Education)

This class provides basic computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Web design programs. The class also helps to prepare students for internships and the job interview process. Students will focus on exactly how they would like to continue using what they have learned in the Program.

Sound Healing Research Projects

This course deals with the conceptual and practical challenges involved with the collection, management and exploration of data for quantitative and qualitative analysis. Students will then use the research techniques to design and implement a research project of their own choice.

Sound and Energy Healing

This class explores the wide range of energy healing protocols from a sound perspective. Seeing everything as vibration the class explores sound in relationship to the vibrational healing used in such treatments as Massage Therapy, Reiki. Energy Healing treatments may focus on the following:
* Meridians * Chakras * "Etheric" (often said to be the first layer of the field, like an energetic blueprint)
* Emotional energy body * Mental energy body * Astral layer (defined differently by various healers)
* Causal body * Lightbody and vibrational energy bodies * Various other models associated with diverse techniques

Sound Therapy Lab - Sound Therapy Practicum

It is through practice that you refine your skills and gain the confidence to be able to open your own practice or work within existing institutions. With instructor supervision, students will perform a wide range of treatments on clients from the general public.
